JRM Construction Management has completed work on an interior 4,000 s/f office and lab fit-out for Robertet USA at the penthouse of 14 East 60th St. Robertet is a producer and distributer of aromatic products, including perfumes, essential oils, cleaning products and flavors for the beverage and food industries. The project entailed creating a custom, fully functioning lab for new fragrance production and testing. JRM worked with architecture firm Montroy Andersen DeMarco as well as DLB Associates Mechanical Engineers to complete the space.
Robertet’s new office and lab space was tailored to their unique needs. The lab was outfitted with odor booths with impervious surfaces, perimeter gasketing, and custom ventilation systems for lab work areas and countertops. In addition, JRM installed a high-density storage system and steel support structure for chemical storage. Tagwall office fronts and custom column enclosures were added, as well as custom doors and dimmable LED strip lighting. Finishing touches to the space included a Fantoni ceiling in the conference room and custom-designed glass shelving in reception and lab areas.
JRM overcame several challenges including the coordinated moving of specialized equipment, furnishings, and materials from their client’s former office to minimize the interruption of fragrance production. JRM also coordinated window removal and a crane pick to facilitate the delivery. Due to the fact that the client’s equipment would not fit into the building’s elevators, the design also required access to the floors below for plumbing installation and restoration work on weekends. Finally, the JRM team constructed custom platforms on top of the elevator cabs to facilitate the delivery of office storefronts.
“Every construction project comes with its unique set of challenges, and the JRM team proved to be highly adaptable under strict limitations due to the nature of building in a metropolitan area,” said Adam Spitalnick, project manager for JRM Construction Management. “We’re proud that we were able to deliver this custom space to our client without compromising on quality.”
