Cutting-Edge Staff Wellness Center For World Renowned Medical Institution

JRM Construction Management partnered with Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) to create the Halvorsen Wellness Center, a transformative space dedicated to caring for caregivers. Working closely with Mapos Architects and R.G. Vanderweil Engineers, we brought to life a forward-thinking facility that addresses healthcare worker burnout and promotes holistic well-being for all HSS employees.

Built as an exclusive benefit to staff, the 5,400-square-foot Wellness Center features various amenities tailored to mental, physical, and emotional health. The comprehensive facility includes a multi-purpose training room, recovery and strengthening areas, hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers, and a multi-sensory recharge room equipped with light therapy. Employees can enjoy a tranquil reflecting and reading space, fully appointed locker rooms, and private bathrooms with showers for added convenience.

In keeping with HSS’s commitment to clinical excellence and compassion, every detail of the Halvorsen Wellness Center was carefully planned and executed. JRM oversaw the delivery and installation of a new air handling unit (AHU), comprehensive MEP system upgrades, and the incorporation of custom wood veneer, plastic laminate millwork, corkboard paneling, and MDF wood slats. We also provided finish upgrades to the existing lobby and support areas, ensuring a seamless extension of the Center’s soothing, modern aesthetic.
