Mary McDowell Friends School
JRM Construction embarked on an ambitious project with the Mary MacDowell School which was completed in just 9 weeks over the summer break of 2013. JRM chopped open masonry walls to house new electrical and plumbing infrastructure before furnishing and installing new Kewanee lab rooms. We also added a cafeteria in the basement with banquet and wood ceilings and outfi tted the main classrooms with tack boards and white marker boards throughout the school. After completing the first phase of the project, JRM spent the following year erecting a new building to connect two existing school buildings. A large part of the project was excavating down to create a new basement level. The entire side of the lower building was underpinned. New foundation walls were framed and poured with steel framing to build 5 floors. We installed an elevator and underground plumbing infrastructure for the new building and created a new opening through the existing building and into the adjacent building.
